Summary -The novel The Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins, takes place in the future where America, now known as Panem, is split up into 12 districts. The districts are then given certain jobs, duties, or occupations of work to do so they can supply the capitol with all of its goods. The capitol also put in a battle to the death known as The Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist of the novel, volunteers to enter the games for her little sister Prim. The decision to take Prim’s place in the Hunger Games will be the easiest one she makes during her journey. The boy tribute from district 12 name is Peeta Mellark. He is madly in love with Katniss, which will ultimately give her headaches about her true love. During the games, Katniss and Peeta both outwit the other tributes with their own specialties such as, Katniss is the most accurate and deadly with a bow and arrow, she cleverly takes a pristine bow with its steel tipped arrows off of a dead tributes back, Peeta is a master at camouflage and hides until the end because he is badly injured. Peeta and Katniss both make it to the end and had thought they had won, but an announcer comes on and says one must kill the other, but neither Katniss nor Peeta can kill one another, so they fake double suicide causing the announcer to come back on and revoke his previous statements. This defiles the capitol and embarrasses them publically, which both Katniss and Peeta will pay for.
